XournalPP is a good hand writing app for Linux Tablets. It should not be confused with "Xournal" without the "PP". XournalPP is much more advance.

XournalPP can be used for things such as:

1. Taking Notes (of course)

2. Annotating PDFs, which puts the annotations in a separate file, without modifying the original PDF.

3. Doing Homework Assignments, which can be exproted to a PDF and turned in electronically.

To install the latest version on Ubuntu based distros, you can install the XournalPP official PPA repository:
