## In place of YouTube-dl

YouTube-DL is a popular command-line tool for downloading YouTube videos, Unfortunately their website is being blocked due to a tyrannical Germany court ruling. However, you can still access youtube-dl's GitHub website.

The (2021.12.17) stable version of YouTube-DL does not work anyways, but the nightly builds do . . . providing you know how to grab and install those.

Becasue of all the RIAA's legal drama causing issues with youtube-dl, many people have now switched to yt-dlp.

The version of yt-dlp from your repositories most likely does not work anymore, so you may need to grab 👉 the latest directly from GitHub, and execute it from within the directory you download it to.

Don't forget to give it executable permissions using the chmod command like so...

Of course you can avoid all this hassle by installing BraveNewPipe onto your Android phone, using the Obtainium app manager, and then simply tapping the download arrow to download any video to your phone.
